At first glance, you might think you’ve stumbled on a fairytale castle—bright colors, rounded towers, playful curves. In truth, it’s the Maishima Incineration Plant, designed by Austrian artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser. More than waste management, it’s a statement: that function can be beautiful, and sustainability can inspire imagination. Osaka embraces the unconventional, and nowhere is that clearer than here.
